Engine Harness Development Engineer
Job Description :
Looking for a self-motivated Engine Harness Development Engineer who is responsible for the design, prototype, and documentation of engine, transmission, and electrified powertrain wiring harnesses to support conventional and electrified powertrain test cells located at the Chrysler Technical Center, in Auburn Hills Michigan.
The engineer’s responsibilities also include organizing and overseeing the build of such harnesses (both in-house and outsourced to a supplier), checking for errors, verifying operation, controlling inventory, diagnosing / troubleshooting issues in the field, and ensuring corrective actions are made when necessary.
The Engine Harness Development Engineer will be expected to be able to read and interpret device transmittal information and be able to utilize that information to efficiently design wiring harnesses for dynamometer testing.
In addition, the engineer will be required to interface with a network of product development engineers to gather required electrical information, work with technicians and third party suppliers to ensure harnesses are built to specification, document designs, and maintain the drawing database.
Requirements : Requirements
Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
2+ years of relevant work experience
Strong background and hands-on experience in wiring requirements such as current, voltage, and electrical noise mitigation (proper grounding, shielding, twisted wiring)
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Ability to guide technicians with work orders and direction for repairing / modifying wire harnesses
Experience using MS Office and / or Google Suite applications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Requirements :
Masters degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
5+ years of relevant work experience
Experience in automotive and instrumentation wiring as well as experience with data acquisition systems and dynamometer operations
Experience with wiring and operation of battery electric and hybrid electric powertrain system
Experience with the repair / assembly of vehicles, engines, transmissions, etc
Additional Must Haves :
Location – CTC – 100% onsite
1st Shift – 6 : 30am-3 : 00pm
No travel
No driving a Stellantis vehicle required
