Job Summary The
Compliance & Risk Consultant supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of the compliance and/or risk management framework. This role focuses on identifying key controls and performing
design and effectiveness testing, while supporting regulatory governance across one or multiple agencies. This position partners closely with Subject Matter Experts, Requirement/Risk Owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance performance, risk mitigation effectiveness, and continuous program improvement.
Local candidates only — must currently reside near Oakland/Bay Area or Sacramento. Assignment is hybrid.
Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to define control processes
- Perform and document controls testing for complex utility operational steps
- Support the establishment and maintenance of Compliance Management standards, procedures, and reporting
- Develop and drive action plans to achieve and maintain Compliance Program Maturity
- Lead or support regulatory requirement inventory and maintenance, including mapping to controls and risk rankings
- Perform compliance gap assessments and provide mitigation guidance
- Provide expertise to leadership and cross-functional teams on controls and mitigation plans
- Support development and implementation of Electric’s Compliance Controls Program
- Lead or support Shared Compliance Program initiatives
- Maintain or support Electric Compliance Management Communications & Training Plan
- Develop and deliver compliance best practice training materials
- Drive process improvements from benchmarking and peer reviews
- Conduct quality reviews on programmatic compliance activities
- May act as team lead (no direct reports)
- May serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and respond to reporting inquiries
Required Experience - + years of relevant experience
- Internal auditing or controls testing experience
- Experience analyzing data and metrics to assess program performance
- Ability to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Strong planning, tracking, communication, and organizational skills
Nice-to-Have Experience - Electric engineering background
- Advanced degree
- Equivalent experience within the utility industry
