System Technical Coordinator, MRI Days

Description

The Technical Coordinator Imaging reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

• Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the section, the Technical Coordinator Imaging has the responsibility and accountability for ensuring the technical competence of the staff and for the development and implementation of all clinical protocols. This position facilitates the operational activities related to quality patient care and overall department function. In addition to performing all the duties of the staff radiographer, the Technical Coordinator Imaging assumes a lead role in daily operations, equipment performance and takes on responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Essential Functions Designs and coordinates orientation programs for the technical and assistant personnel.Trains technical staff in applying clinical protocols and techniques.Develops training programs to apply evolving radiology techniques.Provides and coordinates technical in-service education programs to develop staff technically, educationally, and professionally.Provides technical assessment of job performance for employee performance appraisals.Assists in the development of departmental and institutional policies and procedures in relation to technical standards and compliance.Coordinates/communicates equipment service and preventative maintenance schedule/QM program. Collaborates with physicists to determine corrective action if needed.Participates in monthly staff meetingsDevelops rapport with Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and radiation safety standards, where applicable.Participates in new product review and evaluation. Coordinates supply ordering process with staff.Performs other duties as it appliesMaintains clinical status and staffs the unit if/when needed
• Leadership/Personal DevelopmentFunctions as the technical “subject matter expert” for the section.Maintains current knowledge of all radiology imaging and patient care equipment in the section based on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.Monitors equipment log related to service and preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with required service and maintenance schedules.Reports incidences of equipment failure, irregularities in equipment performance and equipment items in disrepair to the manager.Facilitates service calls to proper repair company for correction of the incident.Maintains communication with all radiologists to assure quality of service.Trains technical staff in applying clinical protocols and keeps them abreast of evolving techniques.Collaborates with the manager and medical director to develop technical assessment of job performance for employee performance appraisals, utilizing objective, measurable criteria.Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• QualityActively participates in the departmental Quality Improvement PlanManages the departmental Radiation Safety ProgramOversees technical quality standardsParticipates in formal and informal process improvement and problem solving to enhance the quality of service to customersCollects data to support the measurement and tracking components of quality management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Required Graduate of an accredited school/college of Radiologic Technology.
• Graduate of an accredited education program in radiography or magnetic resonance
• CPR – BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA).
• Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARMRIT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging,
• Relevant clinical experiences required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven skills in leadership, planning and quality

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree or 3 or more years of experience.
