Medical Assistant

In this role, you will :

  • Participate in patient care in the ambulatory setting.
  • Recognize normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and provide support during life-threatening emergencies.
  • Perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services when conditions regarding supervision, training, specific authorization, and records are met.
  • Work assignments will be reviewed by the office manager or team leader.
  • Independently coordinate and prioritize tasks and protocols established by the department.
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision.

Job Qualifications :

  • Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program.
  • National certification for medical assistant issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT.
  • Demonstrated completion of training in administering injections, venipuncture, and other medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomology and life-threatening medical problems.
  • Ability to administer CPR.
  • Skill to administer oral, IM, and subcutaneous medications.
  • Ability to perform venipuncture and obtain accurate vital signs.
  • Ability to assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, lasers, surgical instruments, and standard surgical medical equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and staff in a courteous and compassionate manner.
  • Verbal skills to convey sensitive information in a courteous manner.
  • Skill to accurately perform an EKG.
  • Ability to assist in orientation of new staff and maintain inventory.
  • Ability to follow policies, communication, and work standards.
  • Ability to organize tasks and facilitate smooth work / patient flow.
  • Ability to schedule patient referrals and be flexible in working both back and front office.
  • Knowledge and ability to assist physician with various procedures.
  • Ability to perform quality control and patient sample testing.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements when handling biohazardous specimens.
  • Ability to work overtime in cases of emergency.
  • Ability to maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Skill in maintaining a harmonious work atmosphere and excellent customer service.
  • Ability to push, pull, or carry 30 lbs or more.
  • Travel to assigned clinic as directed by manager for coverage.
