Entry-Level Construction Inspector

As an Entry-Level Construction Inspector, you will be an integral part of our inspection team, gaining hands-on experience in construction inspection methods under the guidance of seasoned professionals. You will work on various projects, including highways, roundabouts, traffic signals, and bridges, allowing you to develop your skills and contribute to impactful projects.

Essential Job Functions:

• Locate points on the worksite using project drawings as reference.
• Understand basic construction operations and find corresponding information in standards, specifications, and plans.
• Perform fundamental math calculations related to areas, volumes, and measurements.
• Accurately measure and compare field measurements with project plans.
• Identify and familiarize yourself with common inspection tools, testing equipment, and measuring devices.
• Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately while on site.
• Recognize work zone traffic control elements.
• Prepare clear and precise reports documenting inspection activities.

Job Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates should have field experience and have successfully completed NICET Level I testing and requirements. According to NYSDOT policy, the following alternatives will also be recognized as equivalent to holding a NICET Level I:

• Prior work experience with NYSDOT as a title ET.
• Completion of at least one year in an ABET/EAC accredited program leading to an associate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, including eight (8) credit hours in Math and eleven (11) credit hours in Civil Technology.
• A minimum of six (6) months of direct participation in highway construction inspection or a related field, or actively working towards a NICET Level I certification or an approved equivalent.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $34.50 per hour, based on the applicant's skills and experience.

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Required: Less than 1 year of direct involvement in highway construction inspection or a related field, or currently pursuing NICET Level I certification or an approved equivalent.

Preferred: NICET Certification Level IV in Highway Construction.
