Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to lead all things tax — from income tax provisions to sales and property tax compliance. This is a high-impact role with visibility across finance, operations, and leadership. You’ll be our go-to tax expert, working closely with external consultants and internal teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic tax planning.
Responsibilities:
Income Tax & Reporting
- Oversee quarterly income tax provisions and ensure timely filing of all federal and state returns.
- Lead tax research and identify opportunities for savings and compliance improvements.
- Support forecasting and budgeting with tax-related insights.
- Monitor tax-related agreements (e.g., TRA) and compliance with Section 382 limitations.
Sales & Use Tax
- Manage monthly/quarterly filings and ensure proper application of sales tax rules.
- Partner with A/P and operations teams to ensure accurate accruals and certificate management.
- Help the company navigate tax requirements when expanding into new jurisdictions.
- Lead and respond to sales tax audits as needed.
Property Tax
- Drive compliance with annual property tax renditions and manage related accruals.
- Review Texas heavy equipment filings and stay up to date on property tax laws.
Special Projects & Process Improvement
- Jump in wherever needed to support finance goals.
- Contribute to system implementations (SAP go-live in July!) and cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Tax Pro: 2–5 years of experience in tax accounting (public accounting experience is a must).
- Industry-Savvy: Background in energy, oilfield services, or industrial sectors preferred.
- Tech-Friendly: Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint — bonus points if you’ve worked with SAP.
- Self-Starter: Comfortable working independently and managing projects from start to finish.
- Team Player: You’re humble, collaborative, and bring positive energy to every challenge.
- Problem Solver: You’re analytical, innovative, and always looking for ways to improve systems and processes.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Experience with Up-C structures and Tax Receivable Agreements is a nice plus
- CPA preferred but not required
