Job Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Federal & Commercial Construction Proposal & Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing clear, concise, and compelling technical documents, proposals, and reports that effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences. The Proposal / Technical Writer is responsible to lead and manage the development of responses to formal Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Information (RFIs), and unsolicited proposals for government agencies. The Proposal / Technical Writer will work with a cross-functional team comprised of Engineers, Project Managers, and subject matter experts to respond to proposal requests. To excel in this role, the Proposal / Technical Writer must have experience with responding to solicitations, and be able to translate complex technical solutions, strategies, and win themes into easily understandable, readable, and compelling content. This role requires strong writing, editing, and research skills, along with the ability to collaborate with technical teams to produce accurate and professional documentation. The Proposal & Technical Writer will play a critical role in supporting business development efforts and ensuring the quality of technical content across projects.
Duties
- Develop, write, and edit technical documents, proposals, reports, and manuals that meet project requirements and client specifications.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineer experts to gather technical information and translate it into clear, accessible language.
- Utilize software to create detailed diagrams and flowcharts that complement written content.
- Proofread and review all documents for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and consistency before submission.
- Conduct research to stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to project needs.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
- Maintain organized documentation libraries for easy access and version control of all technical materials.
- Support editing and formatting of documents using word processing software to ensure professional presentation.
Qualifications
10 + years of proven experience in construction technical writing, proposal development, or related roles for federal & commercial construction projects.BA / BS in English, Communications, Business or related field, or equivalent experience preferredTechnical Writing Certification preferredStrong proficiency in Word processing tools such as Microsoft WordExperience with graphics softwareExcellent editing and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.Effective research skills to gather relevant technical information quickly and accurately.Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying complex ideas clearly.Ability to produce high-quality documentation under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.Knowledge of industry standards for technical documentation is preferred.Demonstrable ability to grasp technical concepts and translate to compelling sales proposals.Demonstrable mastery of the English written language including spelling, composition, and grammar.Ability to think critically and draw from several resources to create simple, unified, and persuasive documents.Attention-to-detail with the ability to review and edit proposal content for compliance, clarity, and proper use of terminology.Demonstrated ability to multitask with numerous high priority demands in an intense, deadline-driven environment is a must.Marketing experience in the technology industry is a definite plus.Experience :
