Cashier Generalist

Job Description :

Anticipated Schedule (days / hours) : Monday (5 hours), Tuesday (4 hour), Thursday (6 hours), Friday (4

hours)

Purpose of Role / Temporary : The Cashier Generalist is primarily responsible for processing

payments and bank deposits, providing customer service to the college community in a hybrid

environment, assisting the full time staff with identifying and processing registration manual

drops each semester, processing student bills each semester, transmitting financial aid awards to

student accounts, maintaining the College's student ID program, student refunds and being the

administrative support to the Cashiers / Bursar office.

Job Duties / Key Responsibilities :

1. Provide customer service to the college community in a hybrid environment.

2. Process payments and departmental bank deposits.

3. Reconcile cash drawer and prepare Cash Out Summary report as required to ensure that proper

controls have been exercised at the end of the day.

4. Process petty cash reimbursement and vending refund requests.

5. Sorts and distributes mail.

6. Maintains confidentiality of student and departmental records.

7. Act as backup to the full-time staff as needed.

8. Performs administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

1. Associate's degree or the equivalent of 4 years work experience.

2. One year experience in cash handling procedures.

3. Two (2) years' experience in customer service and two (2) years clerical work experience in an office

setting. Experience may be concurrent.

4. Must be bondable (acceptable to a bonding company as a responsible person) and have a favorable

credit history

5. Ability to service faculty, staff, students and the public with tact and courtesy.

6. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

7. Ability to work with accuracy and be detail oriented.

8. Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and

dividing.

9. Intermediate knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

10. Must be dependable and reliable.

11. Ability to follow through with institutional policies and procedures.

12. Ability to maintain confidentiality on all information regarding student records and billing information.

Preferred Requirements :

1. Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.

2. Experience using an information system (for example Colleague, Banner, People Soft, etc...).
