Manager, Product Development Engineering

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager will successfully lead new product development and engineering in support of our Top Customers and the launch of our Top New Products for the Electronics Solutions division. Responsibilities include leading and coordinating development and testing at our California location while partnering closely with our international engineering and operations teams to deliver robust, high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers. In addition, the role, based on collaboration and alignment with Marketing, adapts our Top Products to our Top customers’ needs and investments to penetrate new applications while gaining share, to ensure Nordson EPS sustains a leadership position in the most attractive market growth segments. As part of the leadership team working on growth and operating plan execution, the Engineering Manager will work to position the division closer to our Top Customers focusing on delivery Top Products solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations in regard to quality and delivery, while creating value for our customers and contributing to our key performance indicator, Top Customer Revenue Growth, for our division.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nordson Business System, NBS Next, to ensure the division focuses on the most attractive growth segments and customers.
• Drives engagement in safety vision, Journey to Zero, to prevent incidents through focus on unsafe behaviors and conditions.
• Leads from the front, creates a culture of customer passion, urgency, and agility that can exceed our customers’ expectations in regard to quality, timing, and support globally. Travels as required and engages direct reports to do the same to support our Top Customers and our global operating locations.
• Partners with the marketing team to adapt our Top Products to the needs of our Top Customers new applications and technology roadmap.
• Travels on-site to our Top Customers to understand their process and application requirements, works with the marketing and commercial teams to fully understand the voice of the customer and their deliver requirements.
• Manages cost deliverables per project or engineering activity. Manages the quoting of solutions to the customer while delivering a strong return-on-investment of Nordson. Optimizes resources and headcount to maximize the positive impact to our customers and their satisfaction.
• Demonstrates strong talent management ability focusing on hiring, coaching, directing, and developing employees while increasing engagement.
• Participates in and contributes to the strategic and operating plan processes, active leader contributing to the overall running of the business.
• Participates in the review of product designs and specifications to ensure that new products are designed to the market and customer requirements. Supports overall product development efforts where appropriate.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in a leadership role is required.
• Experience collaborating with global teams outside of North America is required.
• Proven experience in working directly with customers, proven results delivering solutions on-time with good quality.
• Experience leading and/or collaborating directly with engineering teams is required.

Compensation

Salary range for this position is: $126,000 to $173,000 annually

The base pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, business considerations, and local market conditions, as well as candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, and skills
