APP Cardiology First Asst Per Diem

The PA Cardiac First Assist Per Diem at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is responsible and accountable for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic cardiac illness or injury under the supervision of a physician. Physician Assistants (PAs) are expected to participate in evidence-based clinical practice, clinical research, ongoing innovative education, and shared governance throughout the organization.

Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, we provide access to innovative treatments and therapies. With more than half of the 259 beds in our teaching hospital devoted to intensive care level services, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's west coast. Physicians and community hospitals rely on us to care for critically ill patients and perform complex surgical procedures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

• Performs admission history and physicals. Evaluates the health condition of patients prior to surgery. Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients.
• Assists surgeons in the OR by performing first assist surgical duties. Ensures all appropriate data is available for review by the surgeon. Assists other OR personnel in patient positioning and proper prepping for the surgical field.
• Monitors patient transport to CVICU or PICU as needed.
• Participates in call rotation. Conducts daily hospital rounds. Writes orders and progress notes.
• Sees patients on assigned clinic days. Performs and documents complete medical history and physical exams. Formulates a list of ailments, reviews diagnostic tests and imaging studies, and prepares preliminary therapeutic plans for review and approval by the attending physician.
• Serves as an advocate for the needs of children and their families, ensuring the best patient / family experience and advancing pediatric health throughout the community.
• Works collaboratively with other APPs and covers all cases as needed.

Salary Range : Minimum $69.64 / hour - Maximum $69.64 / hour. Compensation depends on experience and role scope.
