Posting Number : 250078 Job Title : Instructor Pool - Diesel Technology Applicant Notification : Department Information Our Division is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach .

  • Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.
  • This is an application pool posting for 2025-2026. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College’s main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Position Information

  • Instructors are needed for one or more of the following areas to include planning, writing, and administering Diesel curricula to include teaching : Industrial safety practices; Heavy Duty Braking Systems; Heavy Equipment Hydraulics; Heavy Equip Chassis & Power Train; Diesel & Auxiliary Fuel Systems; Diesel Electrical Systems; Diesel Engines & Engine Overhaul; Lift Truck / Material Handling Equipment; Fork Lift Operator Certification.
  • All of these classes include a lab component that is conducted on the Lane Community College main campus. The accompanying instruction, depending on the class, may be delivered in several formats which include both traditional lecture and online presentation.

  • The Part-time Faculty includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, and paid sick leave. Part-time faculty may be eligible for full contracted benefits after meeting certain criteria.

  • Associate degree in Diesel Technology or related field and three (3) or more years of recent experience at the Journeyman or Management level;
  • OR

  • Equivalent education and professional experience in Diesel Technology.
  • Required Experience : Recent experience in a professional Diesel Technology field that would include at least one (1) of the following areas : heavy truck, heavy equipment, lift truck, and / or agricultural equipment repair. Licensure or Certification Requirements Conditions of Employment :

  • Preferred QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education Master ASE Medium-Heavy Truck Certification Tests and / or AED Heavy Equipment certification or must be able to acquire certification within one (1) year. Position Purpose : To provide high quality instruction to students taking Diesel Technology courses and assist students entering or transitioning into the workforce. Essential Functions : Support student learning through activities that include :

  • Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, text book ordering and related functions
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching
  • Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with College expectations
  • Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college and community, as specified in the
  • Maintain requirements for student records, attendance, grades, and / or other documentation; ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab, including equipment, supplies, and inventory
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students

  • Provide high-quality classroom instruction
  • Create course content, develop and revise course content and materials
  • Establish learning outcomes consistent with core ability outcomes, assess outcomes using appropriate assessment tools, and use assessment results to inform improvements at a program and course level
  • Incorporate college values into the curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment including facilitating awareness of multicultural and diversity issues in curricula
  • Teach and develop all class syllabi and course materials, in a form that can be directly delivered to, and used by, students
  • Confer with students on course materials
  • Deliver computing curriculum to students in traditional and online formats

  • Engage within the online course environment to ensure Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI)
  • Monitor student progress and provide reasonable coaching and assistance to struggling students towards success
  • Review and grade all work submitted by students and provide timely and substantive feedback

  • Ensure that all materials meet the guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
