Nuclear Medicine Technologist Regular Full-Time (Days) Position Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals and specialized imaging technologies. This role ensures accurate image acquisition, proper handling of radioactive materials, and adherence to all regulatory safety requirements. The technologist collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality imaging services and safe patient care. Experience with PET imaging is a strong plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Perform nuclear medicine imaging, including planar and SPECT studies, and PET when applicable.
Conduct general nuclear medicine procedures such as Lexiscan stress studies, bone scans, gastric emptying studies, parathyroid scans, and HIDA scans .
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment, including :
GE Discovery (2 rooms)
Digirad Cardis room
Philips Gemini PET scanner (PET proficiency a plus, not required)
Perform equipment calibration, quality control, and radiation safety checks.
Monitor patients throughout imaging to ensure comfort and safety.
Document doses administered, procedure details, and quality assurance activities accurately.
Communicate abnormal findings to supervising physicians promptly.
Maintain compliance with radiation safety regulations, infection-control standards, and patient confidentiality.
Participate in on-call rotation to support after-hours or emergent nuclear medicine imaging needs.
Perform additional duties within scope as assigned.
Qualifications
Current and valid Nevada Nuclear Medicine Technologist License .
Current ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Current BLS (AHA) certification.
Minimum 2 years of recent nuclear medicine experience in a hospital or acute-care environment.
PET imaging experience preferred but not required.
Proficiency with nuclear medicine equipment, imaging software, and radiation-safety practices.
Shift Details
Day shift : 0630 1500 .
Regular full-time schedule.
2 3 on-call days per week , depending on departmental rotation and patient volume.
