The Backend Software Engineer will play a critical role in the development and sustainment of Socium, a mission-critical DoD enterprise system supporting global Security Cooperation activities. This position focuses on designing, building, and maintaining backend services and integrations that ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing functionality across NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments.

Backend Development & Integration : Design and implement server-side logic, APIs, and data services for Socium. Develop secure and efficient integrations with DoD systems and external mission partner platforms. Optimize backend performance for large-scale, cross-domain operations.

System Architecture & Engineering : Contribute to enterprise-level architecture decisions and ensure alignment with DoD technical guardrails. Support development of workflows, orchestrations, and data management processes. Implement responsive design principles for backend components supporting UI / UX requirements. Develop for automated testing and integrated code security.

Security & Compliance : Apply cybersecurity best practices, including STIG compliance and RMF requirements. Support ATO processes and maintain secure coding standards. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.

Agile Development & DevSecOps : Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives). Work within CI / CD pipelines to deliver incremental releases. Provide technical input for user stories and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications :

• Five (5) or more years of experience with large technology systems.
• Five (5) or more years of experience supporting technology systems for DoD.
• Five (5) or more years of experience identifying opportunities for improving user experience and defining the design roadmap.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, or Information Technology.
• Active Secret clearance

Location : Arington, VA (remote as permitted)

Travel Requirements : Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for short-term technical assistance assignments.
