IT Manager - Software Development
This position supports the strategic direction of Integrations / Middleware Services by managing resources and scrum teams to assure the quality of strategic and high priority applications. You will monitor the performance of the project team through all phases of the SDLC, implementing enhancements and maintaining our applications, while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.
Successful candidates must have experience in leading a software development team in an agile environment. This role requires a strong leader and communicator; expected to champion the delivery of value at the appropriate velocity. The manager will be responsible to create a culture that provides timely performance feedback and mentorship to grow team members. Successful candidates will collaborate partnerships with business owners to produce a highly responsive / effective team.
As an IT Manager, you will be responsible for the engagement and improvement of the whole lifecycle of servicesfrom inception, through deployment, operation, and refinement. The manager will also maintain stability by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. The manager will scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity. They will strive to utilize technical skills to maintain optimal system efficiency, productivity, and reliability. The manager will practice sustainable incident response.
Essential Functions
- Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects / issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs
- Develop deep expertise in applications and provide training and mentorship to others
- Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
- Communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant information to team members effectively
- Support budget management, planning and expenditure
- Participate in constructing and maintaining the digital roadmap
- Support the technology needs of multiple business units, ensuring the team provides timely and quality estimates, identifying and performing timely risk mitigation when necessary, and delivering high quality solutions on schedule
- Support services through activities such as system design consulting, integrating software and frameworks, automation creation, testing, capacity planning and implementation reviews.
- Build partnerships with business counterparts to provide the best products, services, and support possible for customers of the Bank
- Collaborate with peers across the department to solve problems, identify and make improvements where necessary, and contribute to the overall success of the entire department
- Articulate system impacts, highlight enhancements that will exceed expectations, and increase efficiencies / customer satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned

This compensation range is for the IT Manager - Software Development I & II job and contemplates a wide range of factors that are considered in determining most appropriate job level and making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location, skill sets, education, relevant experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $116,500 to $159,500 annually. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
