Director of Construction

A well-established and growing commercial general contractor in Central Texas is seeking a Director of Construction to lead all aspects of its commercial project operations. This is a high-impact leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the construction strategy, mentor a strong team, and drive successful project outcomes across the region.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction leader with a proven track record in managing teams, optimizing operational performance, and delivering large-scale commercial projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the planning and execution of all commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Lead and mentor project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure project excellence.

Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, safety, and profitability.

Collaborate closely with executive leadership on company goals, budgeting, forecasting, and staffing.

Manage subcontractor relationships, contract negotiations, and dispute resolution.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and legal regulations.

Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts as needed.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in commercial construction, including 5+ years in a leadership role.

Strong background in managing ground-up, renovation, and / or design-build commercial projects.

Deep knowledge of construction processes, project management software, and financial oversight.

Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
