The unit operates a day and night shift model. Day shift includes 2 CNC / Charge, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Night shift includes 2 CNC / Charge, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are 4 : 1 at grid and 5 : 1 stretched. Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts. EMR system is Cerner. Candidates must be proficient in neuro and trauma care procedures. Typical procedures performed in the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain placement, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions.
