[job_card.job_description]Position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute care hospital Stepdown setting caring for adult and geriatric populations Typical patient conditions include cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring Unit capacity is 35 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5 RNs are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications Charting is done using Epic EMR; prior Epic experience is preferred but not required 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700) Every other weekend and every third holiday required No on-call requirement Floating may occur to medical floors, ICU, or rehab Unit has charge nurses and is supported by nurse aides or patient care technicians Orientation consists of onboarding during the first week and 1-2 days of unit-specific training A positive attitude, critical thinking, and strong communication and problem-solving skills are highly valued Artificial fingernails are not permitted in patient care areas Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) per 13-week contract may be approved if requested up front; no additional RTO is approved Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible First-time travelers are welcome to apply Active NE or compact RN license required; pending licenses not accepted Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown or PCU experience Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Driver’s license required for consideration to verify 50-mile radius eligibility Candidates may not be currently or recently (past 12 months) employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity References : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years required Pass an open book skills exam with 90% or higher during orientation High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
