Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room, you will provide exceptional direct and indirect nursing care to patients undergoing complex surgeries, including cardiovascular, neuro, and transplant procedures. You will work both independently and as a vital member of the surgical team, ensuring the highest quality of care during critical moments in the operating room.
This role requires you to be available for call duties, including weekends, reflecting our commitment to patient care.

Essential Functions

- Deliver direct nursing care following established protocols and standards of practice.
- Thoroughly document surgical procedures and collaborate with the surgical team for optimal patient outcomes.
- Operate complex surgical equipment and devices with proficiency.
- Administer medications per nursing protocols, ensuring safe practice.
- Assess patient needs and formulate comprehensive individual care plans.
- Evaluate and document patient progress towards health goals.
- Collaborate effectively with medical and interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and manage patient pain effectively.
- Educate patients and families about their treatment and care plans.
- Assist with discharge planning by coordinating with healthcare teams.
- Encourage teamwork by delegating tasks based on team members' qualifications and patient needs.
- Provide a caring environment, ensuring emotional support for patients and families.
- May assist as a scrub nurse when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as required to support patient care operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor or manager.
Minimum Requirements
Education : Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Experience : At least one year of experience as a registered nurse.In Lieu Of
Completion of Prisma Health Nurse Residency Program or equivalent residency may substitute for experience.Internal candidates may use one year of LPN experience in the same service line as a substitute for RN experience.A nursing diploma may be accepted in place of an Associate degree with valid nursing licensure.Certifications
Must hold a current RN compact license or state-specific RN license to practice.Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage surgical inventory and preferences rigorously.Capability to train and mentor new staff whilst improving education and skills.Work Shift : Day
