POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead EnhanceFitness classes for older adults in a safe and effective manner in strict

accordance with the program model. Create a sense of community among participants while ensuring that each participant's individual health and safety needs are accommodated. EnhanceFitness is an older adult physical activity program delivered in 60-minute classes on three non-consecutive days per week. The classes are designed to safely increase participants' fitness levels through aerobic and strength training exercises while building a sense of community and social connectedness among class members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct EnhanceFitness classes per program standards, as assigned by program manager.

• Cultivate participant commitment and support retention of participants.

• Travel to community locations for program delivery as needed.

• Be accessible to participants before and after session to answer questions and provide follow-up.

• Conduct registration activities and routine fitness checks per program standards.

• Utilize electronic health record system to track participant information, class attendance, and fitness check results in an accurate and timely manner as assigned by program manager.

• Maintain participant confidentiality by managing program records according to best practices.

• Arrive for class on time and dressed appropriately.

Connect with Program Manager on a regular basis to update on program status and progress and as per any additional expectations outlines .

Requirements

Employment is contingent upon attending and passing the EnhanceFitness instructor training and other requirements as solely determined by the YMCA.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Experience providing group exercise classes to older adults

• Ability to provide positive feedback and build community among class participants

• Working knowledge of the aging process, arthritis, and the wants, needs, and interests of older adults

• Consistently positive, patient, and non-judgmental attitude toward participants

• Able to effectively utilize computer software technology to manage classes and track participant progress
