Job Description:
The University of Florida School of Architecture invites applicants for one or more tenure-track appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates with expertise in architectural design: innovative designers, dedicated educators, and strong researchers who are prepared to thrive within a highly-competitive R1 research university. We are specifically interested in candidates with demonstrated expertise in studio design instruction. Secondary areas of expertise may include full-scale fabrication, design/build practices, digital design and visualization, housing, practice, and/or other areas of funded research and peer-reviewed publication.

In this tenure-accruing position successful candidates are expected to achieve distinction within at least two of three areas: research/scholarship, teaching, and service. Candidates for tenure must demonstrate excellence through publications, grants, successful students, and contributions to the university and profession. This is a full-time, nine (9)-month per year position. The successful candidate will be based on our main campus in Gainesville, Florida and should anticipate a start date of Fall 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct original research and creative practice that contributes to the advancement of architectural design.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate design studios, as well as seminars, labs, or integrated building technology coursework.
  • Supervise, advise, and mentor graduate M.Arch, M.S.A.S., and Ph.D. candidates completing independent theses, projects-in-lieu-of-thesis (PILOTs), and doctoral dissertations.
