JOB TITLE Aircraft Stress Engineer – Static Stress Analysis JOB SUMMARY Serves as a subject matter expert in aircraft structures, focused on static stress analysis. Performs structural analyses on primary and secondary aircraft structures using classical methods and finite-element modeling (FEM). Ensures compliance with airworthiness requirements by evaluating all relevant failure modes. Provides design support, structural liaison, and mentorship to junior analysts while contributing to the larger Flight Sciences Group. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Predict internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structures
- Generate free-body diagrams of structural load paths
- Determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear / moment diagrams
- Document and report analysis results
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design team to develop load path concepts and size structural features
- Review and approve structural engineering drawings during release process
- Mentor less experienced stress analysts
- Automate repetitive analytical tasks
- Collaborate across disciplines within integrated project teams
- Apply industry-standard classical hand analysis methods
- Work overtime as required to meet business objectives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (BSME, BSAE, BSCE) with minimum 9 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (MSME, MSAE) with minimum 7 years of related experience OR minimum 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degreeMinimum 5 years of experience in Finite-Element Modeling (FEM)PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Experience with MSC PATRAN / NASTRAN or FEMAPExperience analyzing composite structuresProficiency in Matlab or MathcadFamiliarity with FAA and / or Military Airworthiness requirementsStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledgeEducation : Bachelors Degree
