Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR RN) provides skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment. The OR RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient care during the perioperative period.

Responsibilities:
- Performing patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Administering medications and monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
- Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures.
- Maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and responding to any changes in condition.
- Documenting patient care accurately and completely.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Managing and troubleshooting equipment used in the operating room.
- Providing pre- and post-operative education to patients and their families.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining professional competency.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alaska.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an OR RN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
- Experience with Epic charting system.
Special Considerations:
- On-call responsibilities required, limited to coverage for call-offs.
- Weekend work required.
- May be required to float to like units within scope to meet facility needs.
- Time off is approved on an individual basis upon offer. All RTO must be included in submittal.
Scheduling:
- 13-week assignment.
- 3x12 hour day shifts per week.
- Shift start times vary: either 0645-1915 or 0900-2130.
- Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks; traveler can be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
