Software Engineer

Toolkit is looking for strong software engineers to help us eliminate grunt work in every company . We are starting with finance teams, who waste over a quarter of their year on grunt work due to siloed and bloated software.

We are a deeply technical team obsessed with unglamorous problems that slow down every company. We are backed by Entrepreneur First and the fund behind Brex, Snowflake, and Anduril, with a $3.4M seed round raised in December 2024.

Our product (in private alpha) reconciles data across all sources and makes it easy to analyse in Excel.

🦾 About this Role

As an early Software Engineer , you will be a key builder on our technical team. You will translate complex challenges into clean, efficient, and scalable code. Your focus will be to implement core components of Toolkit and tackle difficult technical problems head-on.

Some of the challenges you'll help us solve :

Building robust, scalable data models that ingest and standardize data from any source.

Implementing and optimizing a high-performance reconciliation engine that can process millions of rows in seconds.

Developing the front-end for our powerful Excel plug-in, ensuring it is fast and responsive.

Writing high-quality, well-tested code and contributing to a culture of strong engineering practices.

We are looking for an ambitious engineer with 0-3 years of professional experience. We value strong technical fundamentals, drive, and a passion for crafting excellent software.

• Love to code. You have personal, academic, or professional projects you're excited to show us. Preferably, you’re a lifelong coder and this is your calling.
• Are versed in modern web stacks. We use Typescript and React, but we care more about your engineering fundamentals.
• Take ownership of the features you build, from implementation to deployment.
• Find deep satisfaction in solving complex, detail-oriented problems.
• Are down-to‑earth and ready to learn quickly.

Location : In-person in San Francisco.

Salary : $120,000 / year – $190,000 / year, based on your skills and experience.
