Job Summary

The Seasonal Tax Preparer is responsible for preparing accurate tax returns for individuals and small businesses, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with current tax regulations and laws. This role plays a key part in helping clients achieve financial success and maintain tax compliance while representing Liberty Tax in a professional and supportive manner.

Liberty Tax in Chandler (Arizona and Ray Rd) is seeking a detail oriented and customer focused Seasonal Tax Preparer to support our clients during the busy tax season. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast paced environment enjoys working with people and has a strong understanding of basic tax concepts. This is an in person role with varying hours including evenings and weekends during peak periods.

Tax Preparation

  • Prepare individual and small business tax returns accurately and efficiently
  • Review financial records and documentation to determine appropriate tax forms
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local tax regulations
  • Verify accuracy of data entered into tax software
  • Explain tax outcomes and provide basic tax planning advice

Customer Service

  • Provide exceptional customer service and address client questions promptly
  • Conduct client interviews to gather tax related information
  • Create a positive and welcoming client experience

    • Compliance and Accuracy

  • Stay current with new tax laws and Liberty Tax training requirements
  • Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance in all prepared tax returns
  • Review all required client documentation for completeness

    • Documentation and Recordkeeping

  • Maintain organized and secure client files
  • Document all client interactions accurately
  • Follow up with clients regarding missing or incomplete information

    • Training and Development

  • Participate in required Liberty Tax training and continuing education
  • Stay updated on tax law changes and tax software updates

    • Collaboration and Office Support

  • Collaborate with office staff to maintain efficient workflow
  • Assist and mentor junior preparers when needed
  • Support office operations including phones and client check in
  • Assist with marketing execution during tax season

    • Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal state and local tax laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • PTIN required or eligibility to obtain

    • Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in accounting finance or related field preferred
  • One to three years of tax preparation experience preferred

    • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods
  • Evening and weekend availability during peak season
  • Ability to manage a fast paced work environment
