Associate Director, Business Development (M&A) – Hybrid

Location : New York, NY

Type : Full-Time, Hybrid

Salary Range : $180,000 – $260,000 base + bonus

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an Associate Director of Business Development to support its Mergers & Acquisitions practice . This role will lead and implement strategic business development and client initiatives, while managing a team dedicated to supporting the practice's growth and visibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with practice group leaders, partners, and BD leadership to design and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Drive client development and targeting initiatives to strengthen relationships and expand opportunities.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and foster collaboration across practice groups and offices.
  • Develop tailored proposals, pitches, and communications for M&A pursuits.
  • Lead thought leadership campaigns and marketing efforts to enhance visibility.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive intelligence to inform priorities.
  • Plan and execute client-facing events, seminars, and programs.
  • Oversee practice group BD budgets to ensure alignment with firm objectives.
  • Travel as needed to support client development and initiatives.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of progressive marketing / business development experience (required).
  • 5+ years of management experience in a law firm (required).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting M&A practice groups (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or law.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, CRM, and document management systems.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Deep understanding of legal industry trends and corporate client expectations.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to drive collaboration.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and legal concepts relevant to M&A and corporate law.
