Overview
We are a mid-sized aerospace manufacturing organization seeking a
hands-on Supply Chain Manager to build and lead scalable supply chain operations in a high-mix, precision machining environment. This role will be highly visible and impactful, with responsibility for driving supplier performance, inventory optimization, and cross-functional alignment across manufacturing, engineering, and operations.
This position may begin as an individual contributor with strong process ownership and evolve into people leadership as the function matures.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end supply chain operations including planning, purchasing, logistics, and inventory management
- Partner closely with manufacturing and engineering teams in a machine shop–centric environment (CNC mills, lathes, automation)
- Lead demand planning and forecasting to support multi-shift production
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with domestic suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
- Develop and improve scalable supply chain processes to support growth and operational excellence
- Drive data-based decisions using ERP systems as the primary operating tool
- Be a visible, open-door leader on the production floor — comfortable engaging directly with machinists, buyers, and operators
- Analyze supply and demand trends to maintain optimal inventory levels while meeting delivery commitments
- Support compliance requirements related to aerospace manufacturing and regulated supply chains
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of supply chain, purchasing, or materials management experience within aerospace manufacturing or precision machining
- Deep familiarity with CNC machining environments; strong preference for candidates closely connected to machine shop operations
- Experience in mid-sized manufacturing organizations (not large primes)
- Strong ERP proficiency and comfort working in data-driven environments
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Proven track record of improving supplier performance, lead times, and inventory turns
- Natural collaborator with strong communication skills across operations, engineering, and leadership
- Prior people leadership experience is a plus, but not required initially
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- APICS, Lean, or continuous improvement certifications are a plus
Work Environment
- Fully onsite role within an active manufacturing facility
- Exposure to production equipment, moderate noise levels, and standard shop-floor conditions
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs and navigate a production environment
Why Join
- High-impact role with visibility across the organization
- Opportunity to shape and scale supply chain processes from the ground up
- Collaborative, engaged leadership team with a strong operational mindset
- Competitive compensation, bonus potential, and comprehensive benefits
