Patient Care Technician

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking Patient Care Technicians for the Medical Surgical Oncology Unit (4JPP) within the Medical Surgical Services Division. Our Medical-Surgical Services Division is one of the largest in the hospital, with more than 260 of our 811 beds assigned to medical-surgical care settings. The Medical Surgical Oncology Unit is a 44-bed adult medical-surgical oncology, urology unit. This unit is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and Silver Beacon Award of Excellence Unit. This unit is ranked 43rd in the nation for cancer care according to US. News and World Report.

Surgical patients receiving post-op care for laparoscopic and complex oncology related surgeries including :

• Thyroidectomies
• Gastrectomies
• Adrenalectomies
• Splenectomies
• Liver resections
• Bowel resections
• Melanoma excisions
• Pancreaticoduodenectomies (Whipple procedure)

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

Percent of Time : 90% - 36 hours per week

Schedule : Night shifts with weekend and holiday rotation

Location : Iowa City, IA

Merit Pay Plan : Pay Level 5
