Job Description
Job Title : Director of Development
Location : Remote, with up to 50% travel required at times and reasonable proximity to an airport to facilitate travel
Type : Full-time / Exempt
Salary Range : Total compensation of $120,000 - $175,000 OTE
Organization : Patrol Base Abbate; 501(c)3 Veteran Non-Profit Organization
About Us
Patrol Base Abbate provides a space for veterans to form community and rediscover their purpose around shared interests to promote mental health and foster resilience. We do so by combating isolation and restoring purpose through connection, wellness, community service, and resilience programming across our 35 local chapters, 21 interest-based clubs, and our Return to Base (RTB) residential programming in Montana.
Call to Action
This year, 200,000 service members will transition to civilian life as veterans. 7,000 will take their own life. 98% of these veterans are not eligible to check a special box, such as combat wounded or affiliation with a special operations unit that entitles them access to many Veteran Services Organizations. They are also 68% more likely to take their own life. They will leave the strong community, clear sense of purpose, and fraternal support of their military units and confront the isolation of what to do next. They raised their hand to serve, and by virtue of serving, they deserve our support in rebuilding their community and purpose.
Position Overview
The Director of Development will be a key member of PB Abbate’s Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). Your role will oversee primary external-facing functions, to include fundraising, donor relations, corporate and strategic partnerships, non-service delivery events, and marketing. You’ll join a small but mighty full-time team and leverage the expertise and network of the board members to build upon the considerable momentum PB Abbate has enjoyed in fundraising, development, and marketing.
You’ll have the opportunity to not only refine existing and define new strategies for the organization’s sustainable development, advocacy, and awareness, but also be expected to execute your plan. This is an opportunity to build a professional development function in your image and work the plan with a high degree of autonomy in partnership with senior leadership. Priorities will include retaining and growing existing donor relationships, implementing and improving upon development tools and systems, engaging the passionate and well-connected volunteer base, supporting events, and carrying a development quota determined collaboratively with the organization’s senior leadership and board.
Initially, this position is a Principal Individual Contributor role, but over time and on the back of your success, there will be opportunities to build a team.
