We’re seeking a Transmission Engineer to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team in the Southeast region. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-voltage overhead transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV. You’ll be part of a team that designs and delivers critical infrastructure across the region, with potential to grow into a leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Perform engineering design for overhead transmission lines, including structure analysis, line routing, and conductor selection
Develop PLS-CADD models, sag-tension calculations, loading trees, blowout and swing angle analyses
Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for high-voltage overhead transmission projects
Select hardware and materials; prepare technical specifications for procurement and installation
Conduct clearance studies and structure spotting based on design criteria and regulatory requirements
Support and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
Interface with clients and participate in project meetings as needed
Assist with quality reviews and contribute to project delivery best practices
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
Minimum 3 years of experience in overhead transmission line design; experience with 69kV to 500kV preferred
Experience with PLS-CADD and related tools (PLS-POLE, TOWER) strongly preferred
EIT certification required; PE license preferred or willingness to obtain
Strong understanding of transmission line routing, structure design, and industry standards
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines and teams
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other common engineering tools
