Description
The Project Engineering Documentation Coordinator is an entry‑level, technical project support role designed for individuals with engineering drawings, basic drafting concepts, and project coordination. Acting as an extension of the Project Engineers, this position plays a key role in supporting project execution by managing vendor drawings, tracking document reviews, and ensuring accurate communication between engineering teams and suppliers.
This role is ideal for someone early in their technical career who is comfortable reading engineering drawings, enjoys organizing information, and thrives in a project‑driven environment. The Coordinator will support multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring vendor documents move through the review cycle efficiently, accurately, and with clear traceability.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, log, and upload vendor drawings and technical documents into the document control system.
Distribute documents to internal disciplines, A / E partners, and customers based on review needs.
Track drawing revisions, review status, and document routing through established workflows.
Ensure all drawings are processed, stored, and organized according to engineering and project standards.
Track and expedite drawing comments from engineers, project team members, A / E firms, and customers.
Consolidate feedback from multiple reviewers into a unified comment package.
Filter out duplicate or non‑essential comments before returning to vendors.
Support Project Engineers in incorporating consolidated comments onto returned vendor drawings.
Serve as a primary coordination point between Project Engineers and vendors for drawing‑related communication.
Assist with uploading, organizing, and maintaining project documents in the project database.
Provide general documentation support on multiple active projects simultaneously.
Maintain clear, consistent communication with engineering team members to support project schedules.
Read, interpret, and understand basic 2D and 3D engineering drawings to track revisions accurately.
Identify key changes between drawing versions and ensure documentation reflects correct revisions.
Support Project Engineers in managing technical details and document flow.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
Ability to design, read, and understand 2D and 3D engineering drawings (mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering background preferred).
Basic understanding of drafting concepts, drawing layouts, and technical documentation standards.
Familiarity with CAD models or ability to learn how to navigate them (no design work required).
Comfort working with document control systems, shared drives, or project databases.
Experience
1–2 years of experience in any of the following (or combination) :
Technical project coordination
Document control or administrative support (in an engineering environment preferred)
Drafting, CAD exposure, or engineering technology coursework
Vendor or supplier documentation coordination
Soft Skills & Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with Project Engineers, vendors, and team members.
High attention to detail and accuracy in tracking revisions and consolidating feedback.
Ability to stay organized while supporting multiple projects at once.
Proactive approach to follow‑up and expediting outstanding comments.
Willingness to learn engineering terminology, vendor submittal processes, and document workflows.
