Job Brief
As a Laboratory Technician, you will perform laboratory procedures related to environmental permit requirements, product quality control and plant process evaluation.
What You’ll Do
As a Laboratory Technician, you will collect samples of plant products, process streams for quality control and environmental samples for regulatory compliance requirements. You will perform routine and non-routine analysis using approved laboratory procedures. Other duties include:
- Schedule sampling and analysis as required by plant conditions.
- Obtain samples as needed from plant products, process streams and the environment.
- Determine validity of test results using established quality assurance techniques.
- Maintain stock inventory of required supplies and prepare consumable reagents.
- Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with safety regulations, and administrative and operating guidelines.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and perform necessary maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment. This includes but is not limited to gas chromatography (GC), liquid ion chromatography, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), spectrophotometer, pH meters, sampling equipment and stations.
- Perform calibrations as necessary on laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Recommend and order routine supplies.
- Attend various classes/training/certification programs as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- High School graduate or equivalent is required. Education in chemistry or related discipline is preferred.
- Laboratory experience in wet chemistry and instrumental analytical techniques is preferred.
- One year experience in chemical plant, Pulp and Paper or related industry is preferred.
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.
