Site Reliability Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Java Platform Engineer for a hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC or Jersey City, NJ. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

This role involves supporting production environments and driving optimal solutions using established design patterns. The ideal candidate will have expertise in application and infrastructure design, with a focus on Java, Kafka, and OpenShift within a financial services context. The position requires providing technical guidance, collaborating with architects, and ensuring platform resilience for a hybrid cloud architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Support production environments, including maintenance, change control, incident, and problem management
• Design application, infrastructure, and software across multiple technologies and identify opportunities for platform improvements
• Design architecture and drive optimal solutions using established design patterns and principles
• Ensure design reviews, code reviews, and compliance with enterprise standards for information security and infrastructure
• Perform or support continuous integration and deployment activities with an understanding of DevOps and observability
• Lead adoption of emerging technologies for on-prem, cloud, and hybrid architectures
• Provide technical guidance for platform engineers and collaborate with solution architects to ensure consistent design
• Serve as a fully seasoned technical resource, able to coordinate dependencies across platform teams

Requirements:

• 15-20 years of experience in building and maintaining applications with a focus on performance, observability, scalability, security, and reliability
• 7+ years of experience overseeing enterprise-grade platform solutions
• Experience in a highly Agile continuous integration and continuous deployment environment, preferably within a financial domain
• Strong experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Mule, web Services, Kafka, SQL & PL/SQL (Oracle)
• Strong knowledge of XML, JSON and its usage within API and Microservice implementations at scale
• Significant expertise in cloud-native deployment using OpenShift, Kubernetes, or another container platform
• Experience maintaining on-premises environments, containerized applications, and hybrid cloud solutions
• Experience using leading app servers and integration technologies like Mule ESB, Any point Platform, MQ, Kafka
• Experience in Splunk, Dynatrace or AppDynamics (APM tools)
• Technical skills including: Java, Spring, XML, SQL, Oracle DB, WL, Mule, JBoss, Tomcat, IBM MQ, Kafka, Cucumber, Unix, DevOps, CI-CD tooling, OpenShift, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana or Prometheus, CloudWatch
• Advanced knowledge of networking (firewalls, DNS, Load Balancing, Proxies, etc.)
• Advanced understanding of Linux & Windows operating systems including shell scripting

Desired skills:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field
• Proven ability to leverage knowledge of infrastructure automation, DevOps, cloud technologies, and platform architecture to build resilient, scalable, and maintainable solutions
• Experience implementing best practices, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with security standards
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss low-level details with a technical audience and explain concepts at a high level to a non-technical audience

Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
