Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician / Senior Engineering Technician to help grow our contaminated site assessment and remediation services in Midland, Texas . The position will assist with sample collection of diverse materials including, but not limited to, soil, sediment, water, and air for environmental tests; compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to landfill and environmental remediation construction projects, provide neat, accurate, and comprehensive documentation of all field-related activities to senior level project personnel; and provide additional field and office support to geologists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications and a strong willingness to perform extensive fieldwork and travel for extensive periods of time, including overnights, weekends, and holidays; and a strong willingness to work outdoors. An interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform field and on-site laboratory tests on soil, geosynthetics, and other materials primarily associated with landfill and / or waste containment system construction.

• Perform in-place moisture-density results to verify project compaction requirements are met.
• Oversee drilling, logging of borings, and instrumentation installation.
• Monitor activities on job sites to assure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.).
• Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction and / or environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites.
• Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules & progress reports;
• Assure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures.
• Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings.
• Assist in the preparation of the final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices.
• Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company's Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures.
• Perform tasks in other company practice areas including general construction services, environmental sampling, contractor oversight, or construction quality assurance activities, as needed.
• Training : This position requires OSHA health and safety, radiation safety (for a portable soil moisture / density gauge), first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring that will be paid for by Geosyntec. We also offer professional and technical development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our staff to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
