Histologist

Under general supervision following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, prepares tissue specimens and body fluids for microscopic examination and performs a wide variety of standard and non-standard histological tests and stains and a limited variety of new, modified, or special tests and examinations. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate or Associates degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, physiology, or closely related field or equivalent education and experience. Must meet and maintain
• Florida licensure regulations for performing moderate and high complexity testing as outlined in CLIA 88 regulations. Experience:
• One (1) year of experience in histologic techniques in clinical laboratory of a hospital or outpatient clinic.
• Six (6) month training period.
• Florida License and ASCP or equivalent registration required.
