A global industrial technology provider is seeking a Lead Field Service Engineer – Automation to support the delivery of control and automation systems used in critical marine and energy applications. This role requires an experienced engineer capable of working independently and leading project execution onsite. Responsibilities include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and client-facing support, including both planned and emergency service calls.

Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Automation Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform installation, testing, and commissioning of automation systems at client locations, including during vessel construction projects
• Conduct field diagnostics and root cause analysis during port visits and offshore operations; implement repairs and corrective measures
• Create and maintain technical documentation such as commissioning protocols, daily activity logs, and maintenance procedures
• Lead site-level project management tasks and coordinate technical resolutions to ensure customer satisfaction
• Deliver client training sessions on automation system operation and best practices
• Collaborate with internal service, sales, engineering, and support teams to identify solutions and service opportunities
• Recommend upgrades and improvements to customers and provide insights on replacement parts and service strategies
• Assist in planning and coordinating preventative maintenance and inspection schedules
• Support internal teams with technical input for system modernization projects and associated proposal development
• Respond to on-call emergency service needs and provide remote troubleshooting assistance as needed
• Complete all required administrative documentation and reports in a timely and organized manner
• Operate in accordance with site and client safety standards while onboard vessels or in shipyard environments
• Work extended hours or weekends as needed during peak activity or emergencies
• Travel extensively to client sites in the U.S. and abroad for extended deployments

Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Automation Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field OR Associate’s degree in a related discipline with an additional 5+ years of relevant field experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in field service or commissioning roles involving automation systems in a marine or comparable environment
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance for federal and defense-related projects
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 85% of the time on short notice
• Must be physically capable of boarding vessels offshore and working in confined or industrial environments
• Required to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) and offshore survival training
• Familiarity with safety protocols related to shipyards, offshore platforms, and construction environments
