Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper - Retail Operations

Location : Orange County, CA (100% On-Site)

Our client, a thriving retail company based in Orange County, is seeking a Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper to join their collaborative team and help scale operations. This is not a consulting role - we're looking for someone who wants a long-term home where they can contribute to growth, drive improvements, and be a key player in the company's success story.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Improve and maintain reporting systems and internal controls.
  • Provide detailed cash flow analysis and support strategic financial planning.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to support business growth.
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership and operations.

    • Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of full charge bookkeeping or controllership experience, ideally in a retail or inventory-based business.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software).
  • Proven experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and payroll.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Self-starter with the desire to contribute to a growing organization long-term.

    Requirements

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, including QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Expertise in general ledger management and journal entry preparation.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to perform month-end close procedures with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of cash flow analysis and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
