Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for the Learning Center Tutor

Position Overview :

The Learning Centeris seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants for Tutor positions.

Fresno States Learning Center is a space that encourages students to grow intellectually as critical thinkers. We advance student success by actively using effective learning strategies to improve content understanding and course grades. Tutors do not teach but instead facilitate students learning of difficult topics within historically challenging courses or subjects. The Learning Center aims to boldly integrate the culture and values of each student to inspire a community of life-long learners.

Please see below for key characteristics associated with the position of a Learning Center Tutor :

• Student support : Meets with students who seek academic support in-person or online drop-in or by appointment for a specific subject (Business Chemistry Math etc.) or a specialized skill (Microsoft Office Python APA format etc.)
• Schedule : Works 6-17 tutoring hours per week in shifts of at least 1 hour (Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm Friday 9am-3pm) 1 prep hour per week with a small group of tutors and 2 hours per month (Friday 3-5pm) for monthly meetings with all tutors
• Location : At the Learning Center for all work hours including online tutoring

The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Instructional Student Assistant to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes courses offered may vary and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

Anticipated Appointment Dates : This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available you will be notified.

Fall 2025 : August 18 2025 - December 22 2025; anticipated start date August 1 2025

Spring 2026 : January 15 2026 - May 22 2026; anticipated start date January 2 2026

Hours : 0-20 hours per week.
