As the WordPress Developer Team Lead at Go Local Interactive, you will lead a team of entry-level and mid-level WordPress Developers responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting client websites across our core verticals. This role is ideal for a seasoned developer with a strong technical foundation in WordPress and front-end technologies, who is also passionate about mentoring others, optimizing development processes, and improving team efficiency.

You will serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues, facilitate training and development, and work closely with other team leads, project managers, and stakeholders to align deliverables with GLI's business objectives and product strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines project work, code reviews, team mentorship, and strategic planning.

Job Expectations

Technical Execution

  • Modify, develop, test, and implement code for support tickets and larger scoped projects.
  • Serve as escalation point for technical issues on WordPress-based websites and web applications.
  • Oversee deployment processes and ensure stability and security of web environments.

Team Leadership

  • Train and develop team members through structured onboarding, peer programming, and ongoing skill development.
  • Assign and prioritize tickets, track progress, and provide coaching on code quality and performance.
  • Set expectations for and uphold coding standards, workflow documentation, and QA best practices.
  • Provide regular performance feedback in collaboration with the Web Operations Manager.

    • Strategic Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Web Operations Manager to align team workload with departmental and company goals.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of the web development roadmap.
  • Represent the development team in cross-functional meetings and assist with technical scoping of partner projects.
  • Participate in hiring decisions, onboarding, and internal training programs (as aligned with L&D).

    • Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery speed and codebase reliability.
  • Maintain team documentation and help evolve standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support implementation of automation tools and product-led workflows.

    • Requirements

    Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency in WordPress, including theme and plugin development.
  • Proficiency in Front-end technologies : HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in Back-end technologies : PHP, MySQL, and LAMP stack environments.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git), staging workflows, and debugging tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring junior developers and managing team workload.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

    • Required Experience

  • 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
  • 2+ years of team lead, mentorship, or project leadership experience.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience with hosting environments, DNS configuration, and security best practices.
