What you will do
- Main technical point of contact for site-wide Instrumentation needs, ongoing maintenance, and Turnaround engineering. Respond to unit issues requiring break-in engineering assistance Understanding of advanced control systems for machinery and fired equipment. Expert in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) including Triconex safety systems & IEC61511 Independently maintain and manage prioritized worklist Develop detailed engineering packages Develop specifications, review vendor drawings/data, and support purchase and fabrication of engineered equipment
- Instrumentation Equipment Champion Manage site-wide Instrument Bad Actor Improvement Plans and Obsolescence Plans
- Capital Project Support Act as Owner’s Engineer and provide input, feedback, and approvals for I&C scope and Equipment Strategy development Interface with Project Engineers and LEC’s to provide technical guidance Attend factory/site acceptance testing
- Network / Industry Involvement Act as site’s Instrument Network representative Coordinate external vendor/engineering support from industry partners Maintain Vendor relationships and coordinate learning opportunities Apply, interpret, and promote effective use of industry codes and new technologies

About You
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (typically Electrical) or Associates Degree in Electrical Technology with equivalent work experience
- 6-10 years of ExxonMobil Instrumentation experience (or equivalent)
- Expert knowledge of: Fundamental Process Measurements and the instrumentation and electrical technologies, codes, and concepts associated with them. Instrumentation cabling, wiring, junction box, power supply and distribution, UPS, and associated TCP/IP, SCADA, Modbus networking (switches, routers, Ethernet, fiber optics, etc.) PLC and typical heavy industry control systems associated with machinery and with fired equipment Distributed Control System (DCS) software and hardware platforms from major vendors (Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, etc.) Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware, software architecture, and transmission systems. Familiarity with platforms from major vendors (Schneider-Electric Triconex, Honeywell, HIMA, Allen Bradley etc.) Troubleshooting data connections from DCS/SIS/SCADA systems to instrument, analyzer and other subsystem/peer system networks
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- International Society of Automation (ISA) and American Petroleum Association (API) Symbols and how to read & mark-up P&ID’s
- Basics of piping for instruments, tubing, fittings, signal transmission media, communication hardware and software, and basic requirements for field devices
- Safety design principles, HAZOPs and Risk Assessments, SIL/SIF assignment and proper use of Hazardous Area codes
- Equipment strategy development including risk assessment facilitation and evaluation of task cost effectiveness
- Package Systems function, interface methods and specification development and skills necessary to configure host networking parameters and network devices for system interconnection. Ability to troubleshoot networked systems.
- Industrial Control Systems Environment (ICSE) security design, implementation and on-going management

- The expected annual salary range for this position is $143, - $165, Individual pay will be determined based on various factors, which may include skills, abilities, qualifications, work experience, and education.
