Note : Candidates will need to be available at least two days per week, with some evening and weekend hours to be expected. Average weekly hours range between 15-20, but may vary.

Job Description :

  • Become a featured performer for the Maryland Science Center and represent the institution in front of audiences across the state.
  • You will work with a team to present dynamic science programming for elementary school students across the state of Maryland and Mid-Atlantic region.
  • We are looking for performers that can present scripted shows, classroom programs, and extemporaneous presentations.
  • Performers will drive equipment to and from schools, set up sets, perform 45 minute assemblies, strike sets, and maintain program supplies.
  • They may also be invited to deliver other performances, lead summer camps at the museum, and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience

  • BA / BS preferred, or several years of experience in informal education / performance / STEM instruction may be substituted for education
  • Theater performance, Children's Theater especially preferred
  • At least one year experience in informal education
  • Basic understanding of science concepts, including biology, chemistry, and physics

    • Basic Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background check and FBI Fingerprinting
  • Must have a valid Maryland Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Must adhere to strict safety protocols
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs
