Brief Position Overview The Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of English Literature with specialization in Global Literatures, Comparative Literature, or Transnational Literatures, preferably with a focus on indigenous literature to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in world literature and multicultural literature with the possibility of teaching other writing and literature courses during the academic year. Opportunities to develop additional courses in the candidate's specialty area exist. Other expected duties include advising students; service to the department, college, and/or university committees; contributions to the department's ongoing assessment and curricular needs; and an active research, presentation, and publication agenda. The teaching load for an Assistant Professor at MSUB is 21 credits for the academic year. Summer teaching opportunities are available but are not required.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills - PhD in Transnational Literatures, Comparative Literature, Post-Colonial Literature, Global Literatures, Global Anglophone Literatures, or related field
- Appropriate background in the needed area(s) of specialization
- Ability and interest in undergraduate teaching
- Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations
- Ability and willingness to develop and teach sections/courses within multiple modalities
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills - Focus on Indigenous literature
- Academic background and teaching experience in composition writing
- Experience in teaching environmental literature or technical
- Writing Experience with program assessment
- Willingness to grow the English program
