Job Description
Responsibilities
As a member of the technical group, the development engineer will have the following primary responsibilities :
- Work with assigned customer list and foster positive relationships to drive growth and profit.
- Interact with technical and project personnel internal to our company as well as customers and suppliers.
- Translate customer performance requirements into product recommendations or new product designs.
- Interact with manufacturing personnel to optimize product design for ease of manufacturing
- Prepare and submit BOMs, technical documents and descriptions to the commercial team to be utilized for product recommendations and to generate costing / price models.
- Follow the ISO Stage Gate system for project management and tracking.
- Interact with raw material suppliers to stay current with polymer systems, market films, processing and converting equipment, physical property testing techniques, and packaging equipment.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Requires a solid understanding of resins used in flexible films packaging and the extrusion equipment used to create these film products.Ability to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and translated into products that move toward commercialization at the rapid pace of our converter customer base.Ability to manage multiple projects, including planning, time lines, weekly communication, and key project updates. Comfortable with managing changing prioritiesExcellent analytical skillsStrong planning / organizing skillsAbility to effectively communicate / present findings to a wide variety of audiencesSelf-starter and ability to work independently as neededAbility to solve practical problems and deal with limited information and drive to quick success.S. Degree in Chemical or Polymer Science / EngineeringMinimum of 5 years’ experience in product development, process engineering or related areasExperience working with coextruded cast / blown film equipment and product development activities.Willingness to travel 20-40% of the time
