Position Overview
As a Structural Field Engineer, you will play a significant part in the success of planning, organizing and implementing project engineering & project controls tasks. Excellent communication, attention to detail and an ability to work well in a team environment are considered critical to this position. We are looking for individuals with motivation and eagerness to expand their skillset in infrastructure construction.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Southern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil projects that include earth moving, water / wastewater, transportation, roadways, and power projects. Most of our work is concentrated in the Southern California region, with some work in Hawaii.
Location
Kiewit’s Southern California District is based out of the Santa Fe Springs, CA office and supports projects throughout the Southern California region, building out project / construction schedules for all types of infrastructure work across the region.

Responsibilities
Field Engineering :
Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervisionPerform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed / installed materials and workAssist in the preparation of work plans and work packagesAssist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built dataAssist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheetsAssist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s)Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety trainingOrder and schedule material deliveriesPlan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsiteSupervise field operationsOffice Engineering :
Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documentsPerform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operationsAssist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal useParticipate in the preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requestedSchedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by othersAssist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandumsEnter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite managementAssist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project ManagerProvide field support and supervise subcontractor operationsEstimating :
Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bidComplete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior EstimatorComplete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents#LI-JT1
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering or equivalent experience and educationAt least 2 years of experience in the construction fieldMust have working knowledge and be able to direct the operations of at least these management systems : scheduling - CPM, unit man-hour performance, material control, estimating and subcontracts.Experience with leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning and organization.#LI-JT1
