Ophthalmic Medical AssistantJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Medical Assistant (MA) to support a busy ophthalmology practice. This role works directly with physicians to prepare patients for exams, perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing, and document clinical encounters in the EMR. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and experienced working in a clinical setting with a strong interest in eye care.
ResponsibilitiesClinical & Patient Care- Perform ophthalmic patient workups, including:
- Visual acuity
- Intraocular pressure
- Vital signs
- Basic diagnostic testing
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure equipment is properly set up and sanitized.
- Assist physicians directly during exams and procedures by handing instruments and supporting workflow.
Documentation & EMR Support- Document physician–patient encounters in the EMR system accurately and efficiently.
- Enter patient histories, exam findings, diagnostic data, and treatment plans as directed by the physician.
- Scribe for multiple physicians as needed throughout the day.
Clinical Workflow & Team Support- Guide patients through the exam process and ensure timely flow through the clinic.
- Maintain a professional, patient‑centered atmosphere.
- Perform additional clinical or administrative tasks as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- AS or BS in a life science field plus
- 1+ year of on-site scribing or medical assisting experience required
- Ophthalmic or eye‑care experience strongly preferred.
- Strong EMR proficiency and high attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Excellent communication and patient‑interaction skills.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beaumont, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.50/hr.
