Position Summary
The Product Development Assistant is a role designed for candidates eager to begin a career in apparel product development. This position provides hands-on exposure to the product lifecycle while supporting the Product Development team with administrative, organizational, and coordination tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and excited to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development Support
- Support tracking of development timelines, samples, and approvals.
- Help maintain development calendars, line plans, and style tracking tools.
- Organize, log, and manage samples throughout the development process.
- Participate in the Creation and organization of cost files for review with Merch, Design and PD.
- Track and manage Testing protocol with lab and vendors.
- Participate Bi-Weekly meeting with vendors to review status of request.
- Participating in weekly meetings with cross functional partner going over calendar and status of request.
Data Entry & Documentation
Assist in creating and updating Bill of Materials (BOMs), style sheets, and tech packetsEnter and maintain accurate information in the PLM system, including styles, materials, colors, and costs.Organize and track lab dips, wash submissions, fabrics, and trims.Support communication with vendors and factories by sending follow-ups and tracking sample requestsCoordinate with Design, Production, Merchandising, and Quality teams to ensure development needs are metPrepare materials for fittings, line reviews, and internal meetingsAssist in preparing for development fittings, including sample organization and setupTake detailed fit notes and help track revisionsFollow up on updated samples and approvals under team guidanceQualifications & Skills
Required
Bachelors degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, Merchandising, or related field (or equivalent internship experience)Internship or academic experience in product development, design, or production preferredStrong organizational skills and attention to detailBasic proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPreferred
