Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a full-time Psychology Lecturer, beginning Fall 2026. This is a non-tenure track appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and to participate in continued development of the UNT Dallas Psychology Department, which offers a B.A. degree in Psychology and a B.S degree in Psychology (concentration in Neuroscience). This new faculty member will also contribute to developing curricula and experiential learning opportunities.

Position Overview

Expectations for Lecturers at UNTD include excellent teaching, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course load each semester. This workload expectation can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, service, and program development. Faculty are also expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, and committee leadership.


The ideal candidate will be committed to advancing UNT Dallas’s Classroom to Career initiative—an innovative effort that bridges academic achievement and career readiness. This includes strengthening industry partnerships, embedding experiential learning (such as internships, research, and service learning) into the curriculum, integrating career and character competencies, and fostering AI fluency and essential power skills like communication, adaptability, teamwork, and leadership. The candidate should also support the development of new academic programs aligned with workforce needs and pathways to family-sustaining careers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Psychology or other closely related field
• Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
• Experience in teaching Psychology courses specific to neuroscience, research methods, biopsychology, and/or statistics
• Experience in developing collaborative partnerships in psychology sectors
• Experience or demonstrated potential in building, maintaining, and supervising a broad-based student internship program
• Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship and community service
• Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and team-building communication skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

We are particularly interested in student-centric, innovative, and energetic candidates who can help lead the development of UNTD’s Psychology Department through program development, student recruitment, community outreach, and potential student research lab opportunities. We seek a Psychology generalist who can contribute to the Psychology program by teaching all courses specific to the psychology core, with the ability to teach upper level electives when available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology or other closely related field
• Experience in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate research students.
• Experience in curriculum development and developing interdisciplinary degree programs
• Experience in building and supervising student organizations
• Experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and co-curricular settings
• Experience in promoting and marketing academic programs in the psychology sector
• Academic experience working with a culturally diverse population

Job Duties

  • Teach the equivalent of four courses per semester.
  • Achieve excellence in teaching and engage in service.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, committee work, develop courses in both in person and online modalities, and advise student organizations.
