This may include engaging outside consultants for testing, planning, or design studies, and engineering support. Systems to be evaluated include building envelope, interior systems and finishes, space planning and layout, landscape, and site work.
  • Participate and provide technical direction in design and construction progress meetings to help ensure adherence to university standards and contract conditions.
  • Oversee, review, and evaluate Capital Project designs in support of the School's standards, guidelines, policies, and campus development plans. Provide technical direction and guidance.
  • Work with stakeholders, SOPH staff, and external consultants or experts as required to develop and document design standards for renovation and new construction that support the university goals and objectives, are durable and financially appropriate, and reflect sound architectural practice. Provide oversight and review of consultants' documents for design and construction projects in the area of architectural design, detailing, conformance with SOPH standards, and appropriateness of systems and product specification. Interface with SOPH Operations personnel in recommending the most appropriate design solutions, addressing durability, financial sustainability, and architectural appropriateness.
  • Review construction work progress on construction sites for quality assurance and conformance with contract documents. Assist in resolving discrepancies and disputes that arise during the construction process.
  • Work with the senior leadership, departmental representatives, SOPH Operations, and government officials to guide and oversee the development and implementation of campus-based planning initiatives. Work with the SOPH Operations & Sustainability and university constituents to champion progress on the university's sustainability initiatives.
  • Participate in other planning and design-related tasks and initiatives of strategic importance to the SOPH, as well as related data gathering and analysis, research, presentation preparation, facility surveys, and other ad hoc efforts as assigned.
  • Prepares information for decision-making by SOPH leadership.
