As a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference by implementing and coordinating recreational programs tailored to the unique needs and interests of our residents. Organize and lead physical activities tailored to the resident's abilities, promoting overall physical and cognitive health.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing engaging activities for residents in a nursing home setting.
- Provide social support and companionship to residents, fostering a sense of community and well-being.
- Help organize and facilitate recreational therapy sessions, including games, crafts, and exercise programs.
- Assist with event planning and coordination of special activities and outings for residents.
- Support residents with dementia care needs, providing appropriate activities and sensory stimulation.
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents are met.
- Document resident participation and progress in activity programs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role or a background in social work or recreational therapy is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
- Knowledge of aging process and an understanding of the unique needs of seniors in a care setting.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who may have physical or cognitive limitations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to create a positive and engaging environment for residents.
