JOB TITLE : Speech Language Pathologist

JOB BRIEF :

  • As a Speech-Language Pathologist in our school, you will work with students to assess communication needs and provide treatment. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create individualized treatment plans and support students in achieving their communication goals. This position has full-time and part-time options.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Kansas licensure with endorsements in the specialty area required.
  • Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Able to provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis for speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments.
  • Knowledge of therapy techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT / SALARY :

  • Full-time and part-time available.
  • Based on Salary Schedule.
  • 2025-2026 Salary Schedule
  • 2026-2027 Salary yet to be established.

    • REPORTS TO : Building Principal or Executive Director of Special Services.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
  • Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or students group involved.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates instructional and interpersonal strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students.
  • Instructs all students from a culturally inclusive perspective and establishes an expectation that classroom language and behaviors value differences.
  • Supports students in their efforts to discover and share their own cultural identities and teaches students the appropriate language for asking questions about the culture of other people.
  • Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.

    • RETIREMENT :

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System) : 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

    • TECHNOLOGY :

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and / or desktop for certified staff.

    • PAID COLLABORATION TIME.

    FLSA STATUS : Exempt

    EVALUATION : Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
