Confidential, global technology firm operating mission-critical infrastructure for high-availability, low-latency systems. A new data center is nearing commissioning, and this role is being created to ensure reliability and agility across the physical environment.
Own a blend of hands-on operations and design across power, cooling, and controls. Work in a fast, engineering-driven environment with autonomy and strong internal support.
Lead or support design changes for cooling systems, electrical distribution, and BMS updates
Plan capacity for power, cooling, and space in whitespace buildouts
Manage projects and vendors, including scheduling and onsite execution
Perform cooling calculations and basic power calculations for single and three-phase circuits
Analyze BMS trends to diagnose and resolve issues
Read and work from single-line electrical drawings, network diagrams, P&IDs, SOPs, sequences of operations, and O&M manuals
Serve as after-hours site responder for critical events
Operate daily infrastructure, including power, cooling, security systems, maintenance activities, and BMS
Plan and coordinate maintenance using a CMMS
Write SOPs, develop Energy Control Procedures, and perform Lockout Tagout
Apply safe work practices and standards, including NFPA 70E and OSHA
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
8 plus years in critical facilities design and operations, preferably data centers
Strong working knowledge of:
Electrical power distribution, UPS, diesel generators
Direct expansion and centrifugal refrigeration
Cooling towers, pumps, hydronic water distribution, valves, flow control, sensors
HVAC and air handling units
Distributed control systems or BMS, ideally Automated Logic Corp
Motor controls and variable frequency drives
Chemical water treatment
Fire detection and protection systems
Python or another high-level programming language
Controls programming for BMS and protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, SNMP
Networking fundamentals for switches, routers, TCP/IP, and cabling
Experience designing condition-based and reliability-centered maintenance programs
